Did you know that Karen is a Lupus suvivor? Her and her husband started a Lupus organization in 2013. Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs. Those of you who are just finding out that you have Lupus or a friend or family member, probably have a million questions. Lupus is a complicated disease and even harder to diagnose.

If you have a definitive diagnosis, you should know some basic facts about Lupus and if you are not getting answers from your doctor. The next best way is from someone who is a Lupus survivor. Each type of Lupus can affect your life. Some more than others and it depends on how advanced your type of Lupus is, as to how you are doing. A good place to get information about Lupus is the Lupus Foundation of America, but most states have their own chapters. To find out more about this illness visit the Lupus Foundation and the website listed below. To hear about Karen's battle with Lupus visit  www.thepurpleprom.com.
